Depending on the physical characteristics of the patient, Gluteoplasty or buttock augmentation surgery is a surgical procedure where you can increase the volume and improve the shape of the buttocks, in some cases, or eliminate excess skin and fat in the area. in other cases.

Gluteoplasty or buttock augmentation can be done through 2 types of procedures:

It is a very safe and natural way to increase and lift the buttocks. It is fat injection of the same patient extracted from another area of your body through liposuction, increasing the volume of the buttocks and providing a natural appearance, this fat is not reabsorbed or rejected by the body as it belongs to the same patient . This surgery can be performed when patients have sufficient fat deposits in other areas of the body and in turn the benefit of removing it in unwanted areas giving a better body contour. Here the combination of liposculpture and Gluteoplasty gives very satisfactory results. The recovery of this procedure is very fast and does not bring side effects.

Regarding the technique of placement there are three techniques described:

  • the submuscular (below the muscle),
  • the intramuscular (inside the muscle)
  • and the subfacial (below the muscle fascia and above the muscle)

It consists of the placement of a silicone prosthesis filled with silicone gel under the gluteus maximus which will be responsible for giving volume and shape to the buttocks.

The techniques of this surgery can vary depending on the practicing surgeon, as well as the needs of the patient, but it is usually done by making an incision of 4 cm. approximately in the intergluteal groove, below the gluteus maximus muscle, and reaching a pocket that is located below the buttock where the prosthesis is placed. The implant placement can be submuscular, intramuscular or subfacial, each of which offers different types of augmentation.

For this operation, biodimensional prostheses adapted to the characteristics of the gluteus are used, formed by a silicone elastomer membrane of high cohesiveness with the consistency and resistance necessary for the region. The material for this aspect must be much more resistant than that used in a breast prosthesis, because this area must perform various activities such as walking or running, in addition to resisting the weight of the person when sitting.

Currently there are different types of silicone implants (round or oval, high or low profile, smooth surface or texturized, etc.) and the choice of them varies according to the sex of the patient and what you want to achieve . Thus, for example, oval implants can be very effective for selective increases if the intramuscular technique is used, which allows many variations in the placement of the same.
